Sichuan Peppercorn is a spice commonly used in Chinese cuisine. The peppercorns can be used whole with the seeds and husks or ground to a fine powder. Sichuan peppercorn has a unique flavor that is different from black or white peppercorn. It has a slightly citrus flavor and is famous for causing a numbing sensation in the mouth (in other words, it is extremely spicy!). The Sichuan Peppercorn comes from the prickly ash tree and is sometimes labeled as such in the market. It is one of the ingredients of Chinese Five Spice Powder.
